do we have to forgo certain things?

 In the working life as a designer, its all about the brain and no one uses the heart. A guest speaker who was only 20yrs old came on monday to share his experience with us. He said something that kept me thinking, even up till now. He said, "As a designer, you have to be prepared to forgo your social life." That is something that i cant bear to. He continued to share about the only friends you make was solely to make contacts. Even in local firms, designers can be so competitive that they secretly delete away each other's files/try all kinds of ways to get hold of it etc. The scary competitive society. No matter how i tried, i find it so hard to be even competitive in ultimate and now as a mini designer. hmmm. How am i going to survive if i really want to become a designer? my new favourite website
